Yes, if it is registered for accreditation. As at September 2026, a practice registered for accreditation can join the Practice Incentives Program (PIP) and must be accredited within 12 months. The Workforce Incentive Program (WIP) Practice Stream has the same 12-month rule, counted from WIP or PIP approval, whichever is earlier. We set up both alongside the accreditation. You can open and bill Medicare without accreditation. Accreditation against the RACGP Standards is voluntary, but it is required to access the Practice Incentives Program and other funding, it is expected by many doctors and patients, and it is far cheaper to build in from day one than to retrofit.
